MDRC Calls Upon Persystent Software to Reduce IT Support Calls and Raise Compliance Standards

Tampa, FL, November 17, 2009
Persystent Software, developers of the fastest PC recovery solution on the market, today announced that MDRC -- a leading nonprofit education and social research policy organization -- has chosen Persystent Suite to better enable its lean IT team to reduce support calls, ensure PC compliance and better serve its bicoastal-based workforce in New York and California.

With a 2/225 IT staff-to-PC end user ratio, MDCR’s PC support group became increasingly focused on two main concerns. The first being an overwhelming number of PC support calls both on site in New York and remotely from end users in its California office. Many of the calls were application related, and some pertained to applications PC end users chose to download on their own, which were not supported by MDRC. A further concern was the time and expense required to have PCs shipped, repaired and shipped again across the country.

Additionally, IT needed a full-proof method for controlling damage caused by rampant PC end user downloads occurring throughout the organization. These would include non-supported applications, freeware falling short of encryption standards, spyware disguised as tools, and so on.

Joel Alleger, Senior Network Engineer at MDRC, who manages the PC support team, points out, “MDRC recruits and attracts a large proportion of recent college graduates,” which according to Joel, has “created the potential for unintended havoc on business PCs. This younger generation is used to going and grabbing online apps and tools they want in an effort to streamline their workload, not knowing the unintended risks.”

By implementing Persystent Software, MDRC has and continues to take charge of both its support call and compliance concerns as it rolls out the software on all of its 255 PCs in New York and California. Already, the organization has seen substantially reduced help desk calls, and that fact that PC policy compliance has become automatic rather than optional for PC end users, their small IT team trusts a big weight will be lifted off their shoulders.

Joel will share his experience with the software on November 19 during a Webinar “Automating PC Performance, Compliance and Availability,” led by The 451 Group, an independent analyst company whose research makes sense of swiftly moving trends in the IT industry.
