Q&A with James Walker, CEO of Future Trends:
Could you tell us a bit about Future Trends?
Absolutely. I like to say that at Future Trends, we serve as a “virtual CTO” for our clients, who look to us to cost effectively handle all of their IT support needs. We’ve been in business since 1997…starting out with a “break/fix” business model. Since then, we’ve taken the business a long way by offering our clients -- primarily small- to medium-sized businesses –much more strategic solutions and a proactive approach to maintaining and planning out their IT infrastructure. The customers we meet more often than not have an IT hodgepodge in place. We can help them clean it up and streamline their systems…reconfigure their networks…and ultimately enable them to work better and grow as a company.
Was there a compelling event that drove you to try Persystent Suite?
Definitely. When we saw all that the software could do in terms of automated PC recovery and imaging, we knew it could really help us help our clients. Small business owners constantly struggle with the headaches of keeping their delicate IT infrastructure functional without breaking the bank. Persystent Suite is enabling us to do that for them in so many ways…without them even knowing it’s there.
With our “Reliable Networks” service plans, for instance, we manage all aspects of our clients’ technology needs, from networks and applications, to data, voice and security. Persystent Suite plays an important role in our service plans because it ensures that we can maintain “PC hygiene” regardless whether our clients’ end users are on or off the network. We’re convinced that Persystent Suite will cut back on help desk calls, reducing our costs for client support.
How is Persystent Suite helping you achieve your goals?
From our own business perspective, we want to grow our nationwide client reach. The better we can serve remote-based clients, the faster can realize our goals as an organization. Persystent has helped us help customers who we can’t reach in person very often. And it’s ensuring that we don’t have to send out service teams to client sites around the country. So it’s a huge cost saver for both us and our clients. We can be a lot more competitive from a price standpoint – and much better positioned to acquire new clients, regardless of where they’re located.
Is there anything else you like about Persystent Suite?
Sure. A number of features come to mind. The first being, it works with how many of our clients are working -- off the network. Of course, we’re seeing the trend from desktop to laptops, and that a growing number of customers’ end users are remote based. With a PC repair tool like Persystent Suite, that works on and off the network, we’re in a much better position to resolve issues before they turn into help desk calls and lost productivity. Whether or not clients are particularly concerned about the applications loaded on end user devices, we can help them manage that, too, and restrict who’s got what application, remove unauthorized downloads, etc. PC policy compliance is a growing concern…one that we’re really able to facilitate on behalf of our clients.
Do you have particular plans for Persystent Suite going forward?
Yes. We plan to continue rolling it out client by client. We also plan to enable smooth and successful end user software patches and updates with help from Persystent Suite The key to our success is getting it done right. Perystent Suite is designed to help us to that. And as we find clients who want to move their operating systems to Windows 7, we’re going to rely on Perystent Suite to greatly streamline and expedite a migration process that could otherwise be painstaking and problematic.
